چکیده
OBJECTIVE To systematically evaluate 5-year survival, local recurrence rate, long-term recurrence rate and complications for lobectomy and segmentectomy in the treatment of NSCLC. METHODS Articles on randomized and non-randomized clinical studies of 5-year survival, local recurrence, long-term recurrence and complications after lobectomy and segmentectomy for treatment of NSCLC. RESULTS Among the included patients, no difference was found between the two groups in local recurrence. However, the incidence of complication in the segmentectomy group was found to be significantly higher than in the lobectomy group. CONCLUSION For treatment of NSCLC, as compared with segmentectomy, suggesting that lobectomy is the preferable method.

Sublobectomy versus Lobectomy for stage IA (T1a) non-small-cell lung cancer: a meta-analysis study
BACKGROUND Although lobectomy is considered the standard surgical treatment for the majority of patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the operation project for patients with stage IA NSCLC (T1a, tumor diameter≤2 cm) remains controversial. Sublobectomy is appropriate only in certain patients as many doctors consider it to be overtreatment. We evaluated the five-year overall survival ...
متن کاملSegmentectomy or lobectomy for early stage lung cancer: a meta-analysis.
Early stage lung cancer is routinely treated by lobectomy whenever clinically feasible, whereas the role of segmentectomy is controversial. The purpose of this study was to investigate the benefits of segmentectomy vs lobectomy for early stage lung cancer through a meta-analysis of published data. Eligible studies were identified from MEDLINE through February 2013. The manual selection of relev...
متن کاملSegmentectomy as a safe and equally effective surgical option under complete video-assisted thoracic surgery for patients of stage I non-small cell lung cancer
BACKGROUND While video-assisted thoracic surgery lobectomy has been widely accepted for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer, the debate over video-assisted thoracic surgery segmentectomy still remains. This study compared the clinical outcomes using the two procedures for stage I non-small cell lung cancer patients. METHODS Retrospective review was conducted on patients who underwent ...
متن کاملSurvival following segmentectomy or lobectomy in elderly patients with early-stage lung cancer
PURPOSE To determine the survival following segmentectomy versus lobectomy in elderly patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS We identified 12324 elderly (≥ 70 years) patients with stage I ≤ 3 cm NSCLC in the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database. Propensity score methods were used to balance baseline characteristics of patients undergoing se...
متن کاملSublobar resection for lung cancer.
Sublobar resection for small lung cancers has been debated frequently and is still a controversial issue. The only randomised trial comparing lobectomy with sublobar resections found a significantly higher recurrence rate for the latter, but failed to show significant differences in survival, although survival was better for the lobectomy group. One meta-analysis and several nonrandomised compa...
